The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Nazir A.Mughal has approved to pay the Monthly salarary to Teaching Assistants during the months of the summer vacations.

The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Nazir A.Mughal has approved to pay the Monthly salary to Teaching Assistants during the months of the summer vacations. The approval in this connection was granted by the Vice Chancellor in a meeting of the Committee, constituted to recommend the solutions towards demands of the Sindh University Teachers Association (SUTA) submitted to the Vice Chancellor.
The Committee meeting was convened by the Vice Chancellor on Sunday which was attended by all members of Committee comprising Dr. Rafia Ahmed Shaikh and Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaili Pro Vice Chancellors of Badin and Mirpurkhas Campuses respectively, Acting Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Hussain Shaikh, Deans of the Faculties Dr. Parveen Munshi, Advocate Jhamat Jethanad, Syed Abdul Ghaffar Shah Associate professor Institute of Plant Sciences, Muhammad Nawaz Narejo Controller of Examinations, Registrar Akhtar Ahmed Memon. The meeting which was presided over by the Vice Chancellor discussed the 18 point demands of the SUTA and examined it deeply and thoroughly with positive consensus in the light of the University rules and regulations framework.
The meeting also discussed the demands of SUTA in connection with
residential and pick and drop facility to faculty members of Badin and
Dadu Campuses as well as award of scholarships to faculty members of the Badin Campus. The committee gives their positive recommendations on the genuine problems of the SUTA for its resolutions. The Vice Chancellor while considering a genuine problem immediately approved to allow monthly salary to the Teaching Assistants working in various teaching departments during the months of the summer vacations in the University. A meeting of University Vice Chancellor and Committee members with the SUTA representatives is already scheduled to be held on November, 17.

Four Teaching Institutes of the Faculty of Natural Sciences University of Sindh has started 18 credit hourPh.D course work.

Four Teaching Institutes of the Faculty of Natural Sciences University of Sindh has started 18 credit hour Ph.D course work. The Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University Dr. Muhammad Tahir Rajput has informed that National Center of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, Institute of Advanced Research Studies in Chemical Sciences, Institute of Biochemistry and Institute of Plant Sciences have started 18 credit hour Ph.D course work in concerned disciplines. The Dean of Natural Sciences has further informed that most of other Institutes and departments under the Faculty of Natural Sciences where 3 Ph.D faculty members are available and also developed 18 credit hours course work, they will be starting the Ph.D course work from the new academic session-2012.

The University of Sindh is going to sought help from Oxford University Press to upgrade its University Bookshop with availability of bookspublished by the Oxford University press.

The University of Sindh is going to sought help from Oxford University Press to upgrade its University Bookshop with availability of books published by the Oxford University press. In this connection a meeting was held between Vice Chancellor Dr. Nazir A.Mughal and Regional Manager Sales Oxford University Press Syed Sheraz Hyder here on Friday. Dr. Muhammad Raees Acting Dean Research, Director Planning Muhammad Ali Roshan, Director Institute of Sindhology Muhammad Qasim Maka and others were also present. The Vice Chancellor said that idea of the establishment of University’s own Bookshop at Campus is to provide facility to students of the University of Sindh as well as LUMHS and MUET students and students of the schools located at Jamshoro. He said that with availability of textbooks of various disciplines for students of Sindh University as well as for students of LUMHS and MUET, they would be facilitated. The Vice Chancellor said that he want to see bookshop full modernized
system to cater  the needs of students of all three Universities and College and schools located in Jamshoro. The Vice Chancellor said that the University is also going to open-up University bookshop at its Elsa Kazi Campus (Old Campus) Hyderabad soon. Later on the Vice Chancellor along with representative of Oxford University Press inspected bookshop located at building of newly constructed building of Dr. M.A Kazi Institute of Chemistry. The Vice Chancellor during his visit also inspected the building of Dr.A Kazi Institute of Chemistry and expressed grat concerned on
non-utilization and deficiency in new building. Th  Vice Chancellor
ordered for setup of a high level inquiry committee to examine the
deficiency and ignorance of the concerned Engineers and contractors.

The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Dr. Nazir A.Mughal has urged upon the University Officers to work with dedication and sincerity for the up gradation of the University. The Vice Chancellor convened a meeting of the Officers of Sindh University Engineering wing on Friday. The meeting was attended by Acting Pro Vice Chancellor Dr.Muhammad Hussain Shaikh, Registrar Akhtar Ahmed Memon, Advisor Engineering wing Dr. Abdul Ahad Abro, Project Director Qamarul Hassan Memon and Officers of Engineering wing. The Vice Chancellor directed the Officers to submit monthly report of their progress every month. He further directed them to visit each institute and department every month to inspect needs for immediate attention. He said that there is need that every employee should have to perform duties and own the University.

The Director Admissions University of Sindh has notified on Friday that pre entry test for admissions to Bachelors degree program in all disciplines for Academic Session 2012 will be conducted on Saturday, November, 19. The pre entry test will be conducted at the buildings of the Faculty of Arts , Institute of English Language and Literature and department of Mass Communication buildings at Allama I.I.Kazi Campus Jamshoro. The transport facility will also be provided to the candidates and point buses will ply from different routes of Hyderabad at 7.30 am. It is further announced that Pre entry test for admissions to Sindh University campus Badin, Mirpurkhas and Dadu Campuses under Bachelors degree program will also be conducted on Saturday November, 19 at the concerned campuses.

The University of Sindh has notified the results on Sunday late evening of pre entry test


The University of Sindh has notified the results on Sunday late evening of pre entry test conducted for admissions to Masters Degree program for morning and evening and MS/M.Phil degree program for academic session 2012. The University has also announced the result of pre entry test conducted for admissions to MBA at Sindh University Campus Badin and Sindh University Campus Dadu. The results of pre entry test has been posted at University’s website at www.usindh.edu.pk

First meeting of Board of Governors of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair University of Sindh presided over by Chairman Senate and Chairman Board of Governors of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair Mr. Farooq H.Naek.



Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair will organize one day international conference on Vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto : Democracy and Prosperity in last week of January,2012 at Sindh University and scholars from Country and abroad will be invited to attend and present papers. The decision in this regard was taken by first meeting of Board of Governors of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair University of Sindh presided over by Chairman Senate and Chairman Board of Governors of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair Mr. Farooq H.Naek here on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Nazir A.Mughal Vice Chancellor University of Sindh and Co-chairman Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair, Speaker Provincial Assembly Sindh Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Mr. Justice Agha Rafiq Ahmed Khan Chief Justice Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan, Principal Secretary of Governor Sindh Mr. Mumtaz Rehman, Dr. Mumtaz Bhutto , Federal Director General Culture Abdul Kareem Ansari, Director General Culture Sindh Muhammad Ramzan. The Pro Vice Chancellors of University’s campuses Dr. Raffia Ahmed Shaikh, Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaili and acting Pro Vice Chancellor of main campus Dr.Muhammad Hussain Shaikh also attended the meeting. The meeting offered fateha for Begum Nusrat Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. The meeting approved to appoint a working committee to monitor the implemenmetation of decisions of the BOG and report to the meeting of the Board of Governors. Speaking on this occasion the Chairman Senate Mr. Farooq H.Naek said that there can be no greater honour than carrying forward the philosophy and mission of visionary leader Shaheed Benazir Bhutto who undoubtly a colossus Asian Leaders indomitable courage to lay down her life for the liberation of masses. He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was no ordinary persona, she was an institution and a great proponent of progressive thinking, social uplift and democratic rule and added that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto promoted the soft image of Pakistan at international level. Mr. Farooq H.Naek said that, as Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto tried to spread education among girls, built tens of thousands of schools and recruited one hundred thousand teachers, seventy thousand of whom were women and added that she appointed women to superior judiciary, believing that gender equality was essential to the dispensation of justice. She thought and implemented her idea of a bank for women run by women Mr. Farooq H.Naek said. He further said that Government led by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto made Pakistan polio free for the first time and lifted ban on women in sports. He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s life was highly inspiring and moving tale of incessant struggle, pain of personal losses and supreme sacrifices and an unconquerable will to achieve her lofty goals for the betterment of her countrymen, not matter what the cost. Mr. Farooq H.Naek said that Shaeed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto firmly believed that reconciliation was necessary to promote and sustain democracy in Pakistan in the wake of successive authoritarian rule and added that towards this end, she singed the historic charter of democracy with PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif. This land mark agreement is anchored in the notion of political reconciliation and in spirit of futuristic cooperation. The Senate Chairman said that for Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, democracy was the best revenge. He said that it wasn’t just political reconciliation within Pakistan that she cherished. Her vision of reconciliation was much broader and global in nature and very far reaching He said and added that she also aimed to trace the roots, causes and potential solutions to the crisis between the Muslim world and West. Mr. Farooq H.Naek said that establishment of Chair to facilitate research on the life and role of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in the areas of democratic governance, human rights and socio-economic justice and promotion of international and regional peace and stability is the step in the right direction to achieve these goals. The Vice Chancellor University of Sindh and Co-chairman of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair Dr. Nazir A.Mughal speaking on this occasion highlighted progress of the chair. He said that work of the construction of buildings of chair and convention center is in progress and due to shortage of funds the construction work was delayed. He said that by the end of December 2011 the construction work of buildings of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair and Convention center will be completed. Highlighting University’s research and academic programs Dr. Mughal said that the University has singed linkage programs with 16 foreign Universities in different disciplines to promote research and academic exchange programs. Dr. Mughal said that presently 23000 students are studying in the University while large number scholars are engaged in M.Phil and Ph.D programs. Dr. Muhammad Hussain Shaikh on this occasion presented a presentation about University and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair’s research programs. The Chairman Senate along with members of the Board of Governors of Chair visited and inspected the buildings of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Chair and Convention center.

The Controller of Examination University of Sind has notified the schedule of postponed papers of October, 23.

According the notification the postponed papers of 23rd October of Postgraduate college side of M.A, M.Com and M.Sc now will be conducted on November,03 at the concerned postgraduate colleges.

The world statistics day was celebrated by the department of Statistics University of Sindh.



The world statistics day was celebrated by the department of Statistics University of Sindh on Thursday. In this connection the department of statistics organized a seminar which was attended by teachers and students. The Chairperson of the department Dr. Raja Muhammad Ilyas who presided over the seminar said that statistics is field of study or it is a group of numbers that summarized the state of our national economy, business, population and other information which is vital in every walk of life. He said that statistics in today’s world is a solid understanding of the information  in statistical report which is an important  to artists, actors ands musicians as it is to the sociologists, economists, scientists and other who produce the reports.
On this occasion a large number students from the Part-I to final year also expressed their views to mark the world statistics day.

The Controller of Examinations University of Sindh has last date for registration in academic convocation.


The Controller of Examinations University of Sindh has announced on Thursday that last date for registration of candidates to receive their degree in academic convocation 2011 has been extended up to October,31.
The interested candidates are hereby advised to deposit convocation fee and submit applications at the Office of the Controller of Examination for registration latest by October, 31.

One day seminar on flood and climate changes organized by the WWF Pakistan in collaboration with the University of Sindh.

The speakers while speaking in one day seminar on flood and climate changes have urged upon the government and community leaders to be efficient for facing challenges of climate change to avoid so much human and physical losses and emphasized to improve the existing infrastructure of towns and cities. The urge came in a seminar organized by the WWF Pakistan in collaboration with the University of Sindh at its senate hall on Thursday. The seminar was presided over by Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Parveen Shah who advised the government’s planning and development division that there is need to include the recommendations made by the scholars in various seminars for the proper implementation.
The recommendations and suggestions of seminars are always good but there is need to  monitor for the implementation with full spirit Dr. Parveen Shah said adding that we have made enough advocacy and recommendations for betterment of the society but there is lack of the implementation.
Dr. Parveen Shah appreciated collaborative seminar and presentation by the experts   and expressed great concern on recent damages due to rainfall in province of Sindh. She said that people who suffer due to rainfall needs proper attention of the Government for their proper setting and added that looking climate change the Government should take proper measures to avoid from any human or infrasture loss in future.
Dr. Badar Ghouri from SUPARCO in his presentation on Role of space applications in flood monitoring said that that sate light offer lot of opportunities to research scholars and helping to made life easier. He said that during recent rainfall and flood during last year the SUPARCO assessed the damages and using sate light information was passed concerned agencies to carryout the relief activities. He said that Pakistan has experienced major floods during 1928, 1929, 1955, 1973, 1976,1980,1992,2010 and 2011 and added that Pakistan experienced worst monsoon rain and flood 2010. He said that the SUPARCO had advised the Government during 2010 to take measures for storage of flood water during 2010 to use it in dry condition. He advised that community should be involved in decision making, planning, and implementation process for sustainable solutions. Sardar Sarfraz from the Metrology Department in his presentation said that recent flood and rain of 2010 and 2011 badly affected Pakistan in perspective of climate changes. He pointed out that Dengi virus is also an indication of our climate changed. Mr. Nasir Ali Panhwar of WWF-Pakistan said that there is generally question that climate is changing or not and added that it is not fiction but it is fact that climate is changing.. He said that climate change has become global issue in result of burning of fossil fuels and added that Pakistan is affected the climate change. He said that Sindh province last year suffer most due to flood and during current year due to rainfall and added that Sindh is in top on damages due to last year flood and due to rainfall. He said that flood in year 2010 affected right bank of river and this year left bank of river. He said that we need to revisit current development path which lacking climate change concept. He pointed out that University of Sindh and WWF-Pakistan has singed MOU and this seminar was collaborative efforts to sought help from the academia and create awareness among the students about climate change.
Prof. Dure Shahwar and Prof. Amanullah Mahar from the University of Sindh, Nawaz Kumbar, Ameen  Keerio ,Prof. Imtiza Pirzado and Dr. Mahmoodul Hassan Mughal also expressed their views.

The University of Sindh has extended date up to October, 25 for submission of admissions forms for admissions to Bachelors, Masters and MS/M.Phil degree programs for the academic session 2012


The University of Sindh has extended date up to October, 25 for submission of admissions forms for admissions to Bachelors, Masters and MS/M.Phil degree programs for the academic session 2012 here on Friday. Last date for submission of admission forms Sindh University Campus Badin, Mirpurkhas and Dadu Campuses have also been extended upto October, 25. The admission forms can be obtained from branches of Habib Bank Limited and also can be downloaded from University’s website www.usindh.edu.pk Pre entry test for admissions to all disciplines under Masters as well as different disciplines for MS/M.Phil degree programs at the University of Sindh and for admissions to MBA degree program at Badin and Dadu Campuses will be conducted on October, 30. Pre entry test for admissions to all disciplines under Bachelors degree program at the University of Sindh and its campuses of Mirpurkhas, Badin and Dadu will be conducted on November, 12.

9 students of the department of Statistics University of Sindh have qualified examination of Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) for appoint as Lecturer and Statistical Officer


9 students of the department of Statistics University of Sindh have qualified examination of Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC) for appoint as Lecturer and Statistical Officer. Among nine students, three candidates Syed Muhammad Kazim, Kashif, Izzat Ali Chachar qualified for the appointment of Statistical Officer while Six students namely Miss Aneela Noor Qureshi, Miss Qamarunsia Almani, Faizan Ansari, Abdul Hafeez Leghari, Rajesh Kumar Oad and Riaz Ahmed Pathan qualified the examination of SPSC and selected for the appointment of Lecturer. It is pertinent to mentioned here that 13 students of National Center of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry University of Sindh already qualified the Sindh Public Service Commission Examination for the post of Lecturers in Chemistry.

The Bureau of STAGS University of Sindh is organsing Inter departmental Urdu and English debate competition in collaboration with HEC


The Bureau of STAGS University of Sindh is organsing Inter departmental Urdu and English debate competition in collaboration with HEC on October, 25 at Shaikh Ayaz Auditorium of the University. The top two winners of Urdu and English debate contest at the University will participate in 14th All Pakistan Inter Universities Allama Iqbal Shield 2011 to be organized in Islamabad.
